7 Quick Takes Friday (The Sugar-Starved Edition)

One

Lent started two days ago; my Mardi Gras three day binge of Girl Scout Cookies, Hershey's Chocolate, and Jolly Ranchers wore off around 4:30 pm yesterday.

The fish sticks, tatertots, and celery sticks on my dinner plate on Wednesday night looked like manna from Heaven.

Little Tom, the three year old version of Ben Stein, has a life-long aversion to pants. He'd run completely bare through the house if he could get away with it but alas, he has a mother who believes in the power of underwear.

He is, however, beyond adorable when he looks at me (usually just after pottying) and asks, "Can I just wear underpants, Mommy?"

I can't help but give in to such a small thing. I'm just hoping this doesn't come back to haunt me when he starts preschool.

Thursday, the temperature hit almost sixty degrees. I stopped on our way home from school to let the kids play at a local park.

They were all so worn out from playing outside that they had no energy left for their usual five o'clock bickering.

Can I get an AMEN for spring?

Four

Tonight is our church's first Lenten Fish Fry of the season. For $30, I can hang out with some friends, munch on some tasty dinner, let my kids wander around with their friends while knowing that they're safe and sound, and leave the dishes for someone else to do.

Worth every penny.

Last night, I was up late (what a surprise, right?) working on my blogs; on the TV, Nightline was talking about the latest new-fangled trend in social media.

Don't worry; you didn't miss the boat on a hot new social media app, peeps. The mainstream media geniuses at Nightline just discovered Twitter.

I *may* have snorted out loud.

It *may* have been a bit smug, too.

I shouldn't be too smug about #5 above; I've been on Twitter since last summer and I just downloaded TweetDeck yesterday.

I have a fun dinner out with some of my fave bloggy friends tomorrow as well as some other local blogging moms I've yet had the chance to meet.

To say that blogging has changed my life would be an understatement.

If you're out there reading and wondering if you've got what it takes to start your own blog, let me tell you this now: YOU DO! Don't let fear of the unknown hold you back. You have something to offer and you have stories worth saving (and sharing).

Here's to all my bloggy friends near and far! Thanks for pushing me and inspiring me and helping me and just being generally fabulous!

Have a wonderful weekend and don't forget to go visit my favorite Catholic blog, Conversion Diary and see all the great links for today's 7 Quick Takes Friday.

Thanks for reading and subscribing to Writer-Mommy!
