James Franco hosted (he really needs to grow beyond that I-wanna-be-James-Dean stage) and we saw the entire NY Times skit -- the only funny part was the polar bears.
The other "funny" part, where they started making allusions to incest in the Palin family? Not so funny. Hey SNL writers - stand up out of the gutter and try a bit harder to remember those Palin daughters you just smeared are MINORS.
'Nuff said.
Onto my insanely silly question!
One of the first skits was a spoof talk show called, "The Cougar's Den." I won't lie -- I laughed my rear off as my mind made instant comparisons to The View. Oh wait, I forgot. The View is high-brow journalism at its best; they would never talk about how sexy someone is, right?
It occured to my
I'm happily married to my midwestern man; growing old and ornery together sounds pretty dreamy to me. But what if something happened to him? Would I {big gulp} then be known as...
A cougar?
{ick ick ick!}
Of course, it seems that cougars thrive on younger men {double ick ick ick}, big hair {left mine in the 80's}, and a healthy diet built around the three fundamentals: vodka, gin, and botox {I'm a salad kinda girl myself}. Well, there you go - looks like I've already taken myself off the list of Future Cougars of America.
Whew!
So, smart and sassy readers o'mine, tell me what you think? When does cougardom set in? Is there an age limit or is it merely a state of mind?
And who's the most famous cougar of them all? I'll be back later to post up my writing progress for One Page and I promise I'll share my vote then.
Smiles across the many miles to you and yours!
SNL -- Honestly, the Sarah-Hillary skit from a couple weeks ago was the funniest thing on SNL since Chris Farley did the "Living in a van down by the river" skit. Usually when we watch SNL or Mad tv or anything like that (which isn't often), Dick and I just feel old and fuddy-duddy-ish.
ReplyDeleteWe do like that Craig Ferguson guy on late late. The Scottish one?
So -- I think Cougar implies a really predatory mindset that I can't imagine embracing, regardless of other life circumstances, and I think the most famous one is Samantha from SITC . . . (Samantha was the blonde one, right?).
Hey, I actually saw that SITC is out on video now, and wondering if it's worth renting?
