It's time for Super Savings Saturday over at Money Saving Mom. Be sure to visit her post and see all the great deals found by smart mommyfolk from across the blogosphere.
I decided to hit Wal-Mart and knock out my back-to-school shopping for Princess Pinky and Prince Tatertot.

My total should actually have been $13.06; as I left the store, I read my receipt and saw that one of my $3.00/1 Planters coupons had not been scanned.
I could have gone back to the register where I checked out and asked her to check her work, but I chose to let it go since my deal was sweet enough. My two oldest children now have all their back-to-school supplies which leaves me time to budget for school uniforms, new shoes, backpacks, etc.
For those of you who stop by this blog to read my witty prose (really, this is a pretty dry post for me), I'm sharing this Super Savings Saturday shopping trip with you for a variety of reasons.
One, I need to begin combining the best content from my other blog with this one. My other blog focused on frugal living, budgeting, couponing, freebies, and sweet deals. I'm still working out ways I can combine the two blogs into one mega-blog (I like Monica's idea of a sort of ezine-type format and hope to do something like that soon).
In the meantime, I want to encourage any readers here who have wondered if coupons can really save you money to check out the linkage at MoneySavingMom's Super Savings Saturday this week. You will be inspired! Crystal's blog is a great starting point for beginners; I'd also like to point you to these fine blogs as excellent resources:
Be CentsAble (check out the Grocery Gathering for your local store!)
If you already use coupons on a once-in-a-while basis and are ready to ramp up your efforts, check out these two sites:
Coupon Mom (she has a free eBook you can download to get you started along with a huge site filled with resources)
The Grocery Game (sign up for the $1 trial for four-weeks to get you on the road to more strategic couponing)
And, if you want to read why I look at couponing as a part-time job where I work for myself, read this post at my other blog.
Happy Saturday to all of you and happy savings!
