Please DO Ignore the Dust!

One of the things I'm horrible at doing is updating the sidebars on this blog; I'm hopeful that when my oldest two start school in three weeks (oh dear, soooo sorry -- did I dance too loudly on my desk and wake someone up at su casa?), I'll have a bit more time to get my wee little blogjoint up-to-date.

But I was cruising around my blogging buddy Jane's redone digs and saw that she's participating in the new monthly carnival, What's on Your Nightstand, over at 5 Minutes for Books (part of the 5 Minutes for Mom internet empire - you go, girls!).

This, my dear mommyfolk, is what's waiting for me on my nightstand:

(1) Alarm clock, never used; Sir Screamsalot is our wailing rooster every morning.

(1) Phone, disconnected. Please - I barely sleep as it is!

(1) Photo of Barnum and Bailey (oh, I miss you, pup) from our Newport, RI apartment, circa 1995.

(2) Freebie copies of Country Living.

(1) Copy of The Kite Runner, still waiting for me to read it when I'm in the mood for what looks to be a downer.

(1) Copy of Why Do Catholics Do That? because this cradle-Catholic sometimes needs reminders about the finer details of how the Church works.

(1) Tater Dollar, valued at 1 Million $$.

(1) Copy of River of Heaven, my next read.

(1) Copy of The German Bride (under River of Heaven), just finished. Good writing, good story, but not an upper.

(1) Notebook, mine, for journaling, ideas, scribbling -- I always have one handy.

Thanks for squinting past the dust and dog hair (yes, even German Shorthair Pointers shed, and yes, they prefer to sleep on our bed - we're dog-people here at Casa de Monkeys); I had fun sharing my current reads with you!

If you're interested in posting your own and linking up over at 5 Minutes for Books, click here and go for it - there's no deadline, and there's a new one coming up Aug. 26.

Here's to staying up waaaaay too late with a good book!

Thanks for joining in! The sidebars on my personal blog are always a wreck too.

I delayed reading the Kite Runner for a long time for the same reason, but I took it on vacation last year and couldn't stop.

Ok, will have to start Kite Runner soon, then since you fine mommyfolk recommend it.

Nice to meet you, Jennifer!
