One Page, Week One: Life, Then Writing

My Page Count for Week One: 4.

For the basic rules on the One Page linkapalooza, read this post.

+++---+++---+++---+++

Adding those four pages to my first page makes five altogether. I'm hoping to add at least one more tonight after I've finished all my bloggy business.

Our week was hectic in a nice way; Knute burned some of his vacation time from the Ol' Meatball (hmm...anyone up on their corporate nicknames?) to do a little home improvement project here at Casa de Monkeys. Thanks to his hard work, we now have can lights in our family room ceiling which look just splendiferous, IMHO.

Of course, I was tasked with extra Royal Monkey duty in order for him to get the job done. For the last several days, I've been hauling the kiddos here and there around town so he could work without fear of random electrocution by one of his curious children.

Having Knute around is great inspiration for my writing dream in that I'd love for him to be around all the time; he really is my best friend. Funding, however is at issue as the RMs demand three squares every day, and gummy snacks to boot. Knute loves what he does, job-wise, but would be more than happy to hand over the title of breadwinner to me if or when I write that break-out novel.

But the change in our normal routine meant I had even less time to write - and that's just fine. Life comes first. If I've learned anything over the years (and believe me, the dear Lord has given me more opportunities to practice the lesson of PATIENCE than I could enumerate in this short post), life MUST come first. Writing will always be there; people you love may not.

So there's my One Page report; you can go visit my bloggy buddy Jane and actually read her One Page fiction from this week as she posted it here, proving once again that she's a far braver blogger than I'll ever be.

Feel like grabbing the One Page button? I added a code box in the left sidebar.

If you want to post your progress this week at your blog, come on back and link up below.

And if commenting suits you better, that's just peachy, too.

Whether you participate in One Page on not, just promise me you'll get writing!

  1. Congrats on your four pages. I think my post equals about 2 pages -- it was around 500 words, anyway.

    Are you writing short pieces or parts of the same longer thing?

  2. I'm actually tackling a book.

    We'll see who wins this time - me, or the general busyness of life.

    :)
