I saw this link over at BeCentsAble so I clicked on through to read the full post by I Should Be Folding Laundry.
Every word, true. So true.
I am a terrible commenter: I will freely admit this to you. On my sidebar, my blogroll (which need updating - another bloggity task) is listed as My Bloglines Speed Reads, and that description is 100% accurate. I dash through my Bloglines Reader as fast as I can, usually while Prince Tatertot and Sir Screamsalot are bouncing to BunnyTown on Disney.
As bouncing to BunnyTown is inherently hazardous in my home, I skim my feeds quickly, click through to comment on maybe one or two that really move me to laughter or tears, and then I'm off! Racing through the kitchen, the laundry, the lunching, the insane canine wrangling, and then zooming in my van around town to dual school pickups.
It's funny; we mommyfolk who blog do it for love of the medium, for the connectedness, the information shared by others, for the sense of community, and for the insta-understanding that we find from other like-minded mommyfolk.
It's that sense of connectedness that matters most, though, and comments - both given and received - are the best part.
And yet, that's the one thing I oft have the least time to do.
So while I need to try harder to open up those lines of connection through the clouds of the blogosphere, I also want to say to all of you mommyfolk who blog bits of your life, your hopes, your fears, and your heartaches, that I am forever indebted to all of you.
Mommyblogging isn't just a hip hobby; it is day-by-day reinventing how mommies view themselves in this world, one blog at a time.
Take pride in your blog, mommyfolk; the Statcounter and comments are just gravy on top. Your words are the real food.
Food for your soul - and ours.

amen, sister. :)
ReplyDeletedon't drive too fast, okay? and I love, love, love your verse in the footer. how long has that been there?
That verse has been there since you reminded me who's The Boss.
ReplyDeleteSeriously.
;)
Thanks for the kick in the pants when I needed it.
For someone who's a self-professed poor commenter, I really appreciated your comment on my blog. I've heard great things about the D.C. marathon. Way to go!
ReplyDeleteAnd have fun picking and training for your next one.
Also, thanks again for stopping by!
(and happy Mother's Day!)

Great post and one that I needed to hear today! Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteGreat post. I wish I had time/energy/braincells to comment on every good post out there. I was thinking the other day that I wanted to figure out how I found your blog -- I think it was the UBP? If so, then that whole insanity was worth it, because I'm so glad to have 'met' you.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I think all this meta-thinking about "mommy blogging" is so interesting. Don't know if you read Dooce (and I'm almost embarrassed by the fangirl that I am), but her latest post has a great part where she discusses the mommy blogger label and concludes: "hell, yes I'm a mommy blogger."
Keep on blogging, Mommy!
