I don't have much time to surf for new blogs to read; although I wish I did, I just haven't found a way to manipulate the space-time continuum to my benefit. Most of the blogs on my Bloglines are ones I've stumbled through links or by comments here.
Blogging is a fascinating media outlet, ranging from citizen journalist and politicos to personal diaries to How-To sites of every type imaginable. Did you know there's supposedly over 55 million blogs (to quote Fox News yesterday)? A revolution of information indeed.
I think what I find most amazing is how brave some bloggers are in sharing details of their lives. Sometimes the stories are humorous, sometimes they're tragic. But always the stories resonate with honesty that is refreshing and honorable and downright courageous in this new point-click-print world.
As a blogger, I'm constantly renegotiating my boundaries between personal and public, between what I deem share-worthy and what I hold tightly to myself. While outgoing and friendly in real life, I'm a private person at my core. It strikes me as I read some of my past posts that their tone is a bit off from who I really am face-to-face. And so I constantly strive to bring more of "me" to my blogging without erasing the all the boundaries of privacy.
So as I try to be more me here, let me point you to three blogs where I gather courageous inspiration:
What About Mom? - Funny and smart. If I've got it right (I'm new to her blog), Jane's a Mormon who has a forbidden fountain Coke habit and is honest enough to talk about seeking therapy to improve her marriage. And to post about why improving her sex life is so important in her marriage. Damn. I'd need way more than an illicit Coke to test those waters. Go over and read her here; you'll get hooked, too.
We Are THAT Family - This blog is so funny; look here and if you aren't laughing, well, then I suppose you and I don't share the same sense of humor. I can completely relate to her story; just two nights ago, Prince Tatertot ran into the corner of the couch. With his eye. It's quite a shiner, lemme tell ya. Check out We Are THAT Family's About Me post here; she's a great writer and an honest mommyfolk. Love it!
sweet salty - This blog I read because even in the midst of personal tragedy, this writer-mommy creates beauty in words. I can't even begin to describe it; go here and read for yourself.
Here's to brave blogging!
