Rain Rain, Oh Please Go Away

And not just because yesterday hit a nice 72 degrees here, meaning I was able to take all of the Royal Monkeys to the park after school and just let them run wild, but because my back yard will soon require a drawbridge to reach the play equipment without swimming.

I'd show you a picture but it's so dark and gloomy here that even the flash on my camera doesn't make it bright enough to catch a good shot.

I'm hoping someone enjoys some sunshine out there today.

*************************

Today is Presidential Primary Election Day here in the Heart of It All. And while I'm usually happy to get on my soapbox and shake my finger at folks who don't vote, I can't today.

Because I'm not voting.

Not because I don't want to vote; no, I'd be more than happy to shout my opinion from the rooftops in my party's race then go next door and vote against the Forces of Billary in the Democratic party (you can vote in both primary elections here in Ohio).

My non-voting today is just sheer forgetfulness on my part. When we moved last year, somewhere between the piles of boxes, paperwork, and children who required thrice-daily meals, I neglected to change our voter registration from our last address to the new one in our new county.

It has since been done, but not within the 30 day period required by law.

I do hope all of you who can vote today will vote. It does matter. It really does. The turnout numbers for elections always astonish me; so many people who are eligible to vote never do. And the political machines count on our apathy; what might happen if our citizenry stood up and demanded accountability in numbers never before seen?

And while I don't usually discuss politics too in-depth with most folks as it's not the makings of easy dinner conversation (along with money and religion), I will say I hope Mike Huckabee surges in Texas today. I'd like to see him and John McCain in a one-on-one debate and that won't happen if McCain gets enough delegates today to effectively end the Republican primaries.

So go out and vote! And if you're here in Ohio, bring your umbrella along!
