Cookies Cookies Cookies

I've been up to my eyeballs in these this weekend:

My Brownie Troop sold at Kroger on Saturday morning, after which I ran down to our Council office to pick up another 19 cases (the big brown boxes) of cookies.

Then we sold after Mass at our church this morning.

And not one of those tasty tidbits has been enjoyed by moi. I do so love life's little ironies.

Both sales were very successful money-wise, but I think I enjoyed watching the girls succeed at dealing with the public more than the profits to our Troop.

Like any group of children (our Troop is 16 girls in total), I've got some real clowns, girls who are more than happy to be the star of the show no matter what they're doing. For those girls, talking to the folks on their way in and out of Kroger and church came easily and naturally.

But our Troop definitely has a few girls who like to stand back and take it all in first. Having such a big group (even though we divided up for shifts) meant that they could watch and absorb the experience while the Chatty Cathys made the sales.

Oh, and Princess Pinky? I'd have to put up there as one of the top Chatty Cathy's. Not quite Queen of the CC's, but close.

Not everyone bought cookies, or even acknowledged the girls' cheerful calls of , "Good morning!" And this too was another slice of reality I was glad our Brownies experienced: you don't always succeed the first time you try. Real success only comes to those who are willing to keep trying in the face of failure.

All in all, it was a good way to spend my weekend.

Too bad I can't finish it off with some Thin Mints!
